Eight games close out Serie B round

Two matches on Friday and six on Saturday complete the 16th round of the Brazilian Serie B. On Tuesday, second place Coritiba defeated Avai 1-0 at home, while Ituano continued its recovery with a 2-1 home win over Sao Caetano, its second win in a row.

Last place Paulista travels to Salvador to face Vitoria, which defeated Coritiba 3-1 on Saturday. The other game of the night features two teams tied at 24 points with Vitoria, with Portuguesa visiting Gremio Barueri.

On Saturday, 11th place Fortaleza host second last Remo, while 18th Santa Cruz goes to Campinas to play Ponte Preta, currently in eighth. Fourth place Brasiliense, still feeling the heat for the 3-0 loss to Ituano on the road, returns home to play Ceara. Leaders Criciuma are at home against ninth place CRB, and 14th placed Ipatinga host Gama, in 10th. Finally, third place Marilia hopes to continue its excellent season when it goes to Santo Andre, currently in 17th.
