Alecsandro leaves Cruzeiro for Betis

Forward Alecsandro, from Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte, is the newest Brazilian player to leave for Europe. According to the team, the forward will joing Real Betis from Spain for a €3 million fee. The 25-year-old caught the Europeans' attention after performing quite well for Cruzeiro over the past year, scoring at a pace of one goal every second game.

The signing could be another hint that another Brazilian at the team may indeed be leaving for Turkey. Ricardo Oliveira, who was on loan at Sao Paulo, has indicated he was very displeased with the team after not being allowed to play for Sao Paulo in the second leg of the Libertadores final - his loan had ended six days prior to the game. Moreover, he was fined €1 million for delaying his return to the club, having remained in Brazil hoping his loan would be extended. Reports indicate he may join Turkish side Fenerbahce, coached by former Brazilian star and Japan coach Zico.
