Early week transfer news

The week started with plenty of news in the transfer front for Brazilian teams and players. Former Internacional forward Rafael Sobis will join ex-teamate Jorge Wagner at Betis Sevilla, having signed an eight-year contract with the Spanish club on Monday. He will likely already begin training with his new club on Tuesday, according to the Spanish media.

Edilson, from Vasco, is also leaving the country to play abroad. The member of the 2002 Brazilian World Cup championship team is headed to Japan, where he will play for Nagoya. And Vasco's crosstown rival Flamengo may lose three players to Spain's Atletico de Madrid to pay a debt with that team: midfielder Junior, defender Rodrigo Arroz and forward Bruno Mezenga.

Finally, Argentine star Carlos Tevez - who left his team Corinthians last week - is now being associated with playing at the English Premiership. After rumours he was being chased by Manchester United, the player is now being said to interest Arsenal, who would buy the player with money from a sale of Ashley Cole to Chelsea. According to London's The Sun, Arsenal would pay US$ 32 million to Corinthians. The Brazilian team's president, Alberto Dualib, is in England trying to finish a deal and solve the problems the team currently has with its investor partner MSI.

Coming the other way - from Europe to Brazil - defender Miranda has agreed to a one-year loan with Sao Paulo, from France's Sochaux. He will replace Uruguayan international Diego Lugano, who left the team after the loss in the Libertadores final. Sao Paulo is also said to be interested in midfielder Dagoberto, from Atletico Paranaense - who's also sought by Santos.
