Corinthians signs Amoroso and Magrao

After losing its Argentine players Tevez and Mascherano, defending champions Corinthians quickly signed two Brazilian players who were playing abroad, to help avoid relegation in the Brazilian Serie A. Forward Amoroso and midfielder Magrao agreed to join the most popular team in Sao Paulo, after lacklustre passages in foreign teams.

Amoroso signed a one-year deal, while Magrao agreed to a 10-month contract. The forward had left Sao Paulo to AC Milan in January, but did not get enough opportunities at the Italian team, playing only five times and scoring one goal. Magrao, who used to play for another Corinthians rival - Palmeiras - was playing in Japan. He will be on loan until the end of June.

Meanwhile, Sao Paulo and Santos are still fighting for midfielder Ze Roberto, who played in Bayern Munich last year and at the Brazil National team during the World Cup in Germany. After undergoing knee surgery upon returning from Germany, Ze Roberto has been doing physiotherapy work at Sao Paulo. The player apparently agreed with Santos yesterday afternoon, but then changed his mind and opted for a better offer from Sao Paulo. A final decision will be made today.
